Our Team

MVP sees itself not just as investor. We also accompany our portfolio companies through all development stages using our industry and sector expertise and entrepreneurial experience.

The members of our team complement each other perfectly. Each member has gathered a wealth of experience in senior management and in the venture capital environment over the years.

Our team members’ technical expertise covers information and communications technology, physics, semiconductor electronics, power engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry and finance.

Dr. Rolf Nagel

Rolf Nagel has been active in the venture capital business since 1993. He founded MVP Munich Venture Partners together with his partners in 2004. It is Rolf's vision and passion to take an idea and turn it into a market success and to assist entrepreneurs in both word and deed, working together in MVP to provide a service. Together with his partners, Rolf worked to establish the link between MVP and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

Rolf Nagel is on the Advisory Boards of Novihum and Silicon Line and, as a founding investor, an observer on the Board of Directors of Harvest Power, USA. Furthermore he is Member of the Governing Board of the EIT European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which is a body of the European Union.

Prior to his work with MVP, Rolf Nagel was a partner and investment manager with Star Ventures, a leading international venture capital fund based in Munich, for more than ten years. In this position he contributed to numerous successful business developments and exits such as for Capstone Microturbines (Nasdaq: CPST), Ciena Communications (CIEN), Floware (today Alvarion, ALVR), iloxx (acquired by DPE), Medigene (Frankfurt: MDG), RF Micro Devices (RFMD) and Sequenom (SQNM). Thousands of jobs have been created by these businesses, some of which have been operating as competitive systems companies for decades.

Before working for Star Ventures, Rolf was an investment manager at Deutsche Beteiligungsgesellschaft AG, the investment company founded by Deutsche Bank. Before that he was CEO of Vialog Visual Inspection Systems in Hanover, which was acquired by Walter AG in Tübingen following its successful repositioning.

Rolf Nagel studied Business Administration at WHU Koblenz and holds a PhD in Business Economics from the University of Cologne. He was also awarded a research scholarship at the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, USA.
